Sustainability

Projects designed for people and the planet

On each project, we work to reduce waste, prioritise sustainably sourced materials in construction and design homes that are gentle on the planet now and in the years to come. We pride ourselves on using innovative techniques and technologies to deliver more sustainable outcomes in our developments. The Eastbourne has been conceived with sustainability principles at its heart. Sustainable design of the homes extends beyond just the maximisation of light and airflow, and encompasses solar power, EV charging and deep planting zones. Throughout the seasons, the homes will adapt to reduce power consumption and costs without compromising on comfort.

Solar design for every season

Passive design has been embraced at The Eastbourne with homes designed to capture heat in winter and reduce heat in summer. Our solar studies include extensive consideration of the buildings’ form and orientation to respond to the sun’s path and accentuate airflow. Solar PV panels will feed power to the residential community and common areas to subsidise strata levies.

Green surroundings and fresh, cool air

The lush green surroundings of the parks, large open green spaces and an abundance of landscaping will reduce urban heat. This is further accentuated with shading elements throughout the precinct, and an open space that will capture northern sun year-round.

Perfectly positioned for healthy living

The Eastbourne’s prime location will encourage sustainable modes of transport, with everything you need just a bike ride or short walk from home. Cycle to work, walk to the shops or explore the parkland for your catch-ups with friends instead of the car. Bicycle storage and an emphasis on pedestrian and bike pathways within The Eastbourne make it easy to contribute to a healthier environment. Our construction of a new bike network from the site to the parklands and our city’s anticipated future Light Rail extensions will also have you in close distance of an even greater range of public transport options.

Environmentally friendly from the inside, out

Double-glazing is a standard in all Amalgamated homes. Floor-to-ceiling windows are also provided wherever possible for maximum light penetration and thermal comfort.

High efficiency LED lighting and efficient ducted heating and cooling systems will feature in the homes for year-round comfort as well as cost and environmental savings.

The Eastbourne is targeting an elimination of gas-powered equipment to further reduce its carbon footprint, and a permeable ground floor plane will integrate porous materials to reduce heat load and glare.

EV Charging for a future-proof precinct

The Eastbourne will support residents in transitioning to electric vehicles by providing EV charging stations to select car parks, subject to availability. With a global push to phase out combustion engines, and EV car sales increasing, The Eastbourne is EV ready if you are.

Liquid gold

The Eastbourne features deep planting zones and modern fixtures to enable water conservation in the common areas and homes.
